Class Descriptions

  • Power Flow

Looking to break a sweat and build physical and mental endurance? This class is for you! Step into a practice that strikes a sweet balance of strength training and mindfulness with HAUM’s Power Flow. Designed for those looking to build heat and test their limits, this class features a high-energy asana flow seamlessly intertwined with the breath to create a meditative dance to enhance stability, flexibility, and focus. This class is suitable for all levels; however, given its faster pace, we recommend a baseline familiarity with standard Vinyasa asana.

  • Vinyasa for Strength and Mobility

This upbeat class combines the cardio of traditional vinyasa flow with techniques from mobility training to increase your muscle tone, functional range of motion, and endurance.

  • Gentle Yoga (Anusara Method)

This gentle all-levels class draws on the intuitive alignment system of Anusara® Yoga to highlight the intricate body-mind connection.

Expect cues that not only create specific muscle and joint positions, but whose effect ripples out into the mind, emotions and spirit.

You can expect a steady, calming practice of Yoga poses, breathwork, and awareness techniques. Gentle movement, thoughtful transitions and modification options are used to invite soft openings and to deepen the mind-body connection.

Perfect for beginners as well as regular practitioners wishing to slow down and get grounded.

  • Hatha Yoga Intermediate (Anusara Yoga)

This Hatha class draws on the intuitive alignment system of Anusara® Yoga to highlight the intricate body-mind connection.

Expect cues that not only create specific muscle and joint positions, but whose effect ripples out into the mind, emotions and spirit.

Approach to Yoga Asana

Suzanne’s passion for teaching yoga is based on her own recovery from chronic pain and numbness. Her life completely turned around as she encountered a combination of Yoga asana, related movement modalities, and mindfulness that reached far beyond the physical. A passionate practitioner of therapeutic, alignment-focused yoga, Suzanne has spent thousands of hours over the past decade guiding students to an active understanding of their own body and mind complex.

Suzanne’s deep understanding of human movement, anatomy, and how we can recover our innate strength-based ease in the various body regions, informs all her teaching, whether it is a Hatha, Vinyasa, or Anusara class. Her classes often center on classical peak poses, to which she guides students using a step-by-step approach, intelligent sequencing and clear instructions. Besides other Yoga poses, Suzanne makes use of a wide range of tools, from Physiotherapy, Kinesiology and Mobility Training, Martial Arts, Dance, and more, to prepare the body and make even the most challenging poses accessible. Ultimately, peak poses are not the goal - they are a means to the end of ‘liberating’ specific areas of the body and mind and connecting us to our innate freedom and intelligence. Besides fun, ‘aha’ moments and sweaty options, students can expect individual guidance and effective strategies to reverse common imbalances; they can expect to stay safe as well as having the opportunity to push their own boundaries to experience growth, both physically and mentally.

Students say that “Yoga with Suzanne” is “non-cookie cutter and versatile,” “exuberant and transformative,” and that her classes enable anatomical awareness, joy of movement, and the magic of mindfulness.
